SPECIAL PROGRAMSHearing Solutions, Inc. is the only independent audiology facility in the Best Southwest region. The unique location and flexible programming has allowed the development of special programs to meet the needs of the community. Parent Infant Program (P.I.P.)
Texas has passed legislation that mandates universal hearing screenings for babies born in Texas hospitals. This will result in earlier identification of hearing loss and allow intervention to begin in infancy. PIP was designed to help parents when they are first told their new child has a significant hearing loss. PIP assists the parents in making decisions regarding amplification and additional testing. It is also designed to provide parents information on normal speech and language development, skills to help their child succeed in a hearing world, and to provide resources such as the Program for Amplification for the Children of Texas (PACT). If a parent does not qualify for PACT, but has financial difficulties arrangements are made so that every child receives the audiological support they need. CAP Team Central Auditory Processing is one way to describe difficulties children often experience in dealing with verbal directions and auditory memory. A comprehensive evaluation is completed which allows therapy goals to be designed to meet the specific needs of each child. We will work closely with school personnel to integrate therapy goals into classroom activities. Auditory Rehabilitation Adult speech reading classes are provided for people having mild difficulty understanding speech in noise with or without amplification. Type of hearing disorders, hearing aid styles, room acoustics, 'body' reading, and coping strategies are just a few of the topics covered in this three hour course. |
